*** If you would like images message me I will ad them back to the ad at that point. Craigslist deletes them to fast when ads expire...I am not going to try to keep up** :P
The hand forged head is all original and retains a well defined identification manufacturer mark. It also has a nail puller integrated into the head. This shingle hatchet is a 3 in 1 tool for roofers back in the day and even used today. Meant for wood shingle roofs, the blade would be used to chop the wood shingle to size along the grain, then a spin of the handle gives you a hammer called a "poll" that looks like a hammer nose.....used to nail the shingle onto the roof. There is even a nail puller built into the head.
Some Shingle hatchets have round polls. Many of the UK brands had Octagon polls. Why octagon over round polls? The reason is to give the roofer/user a register or a quick glance of the position/angle of the hatchet when using.
The head is 14.5" long.
The handle is not original but in excellent shape.
