I have a Antique 1910 Postmarked Berlin Ontario Postcard of the Courtland Avenue School in Berlin Ontario Canada. It is a lovely piece of history.
The Postcard was mailed to Miss Ethel Barber in Chesley Ont in June of 1910. The postcard tells Miss Ethel barber to make sure that she comes to Chesley this Thursday to a surprise party for Mrs. Marshal presumably near Chesley Ont.
What a great piece of Old Berlin Nostalgia.
So Kitchener Ontario when it was settled by German Settlers back in the 1800's was called Berlin Ont. The name got changed to Kitchener after the unsavoury dictator rose to popularity in 1916.
This postcard is depicting the Courtland Avenue School. The school was built in 1890. It was replaced in 1928 with a new building.
