Rare vintage analogue synth by Moog, recently restored to original condition. A vastly expressive instrument with distinctive yet highly customizable/versatile Moog sounds. The two-oscillator Liberation is a 1981 classic monophonic keyboard designed for standard or over-the-shoulder playing. (The latter is probably fine but not recommended in this case because of a reinforced fracture at the base of the neck. Otherwise, despite some wear, this synth is in great performance condition.)
Notes from vintage synthesizer repair specialists Synths When (Toronto) after complete cleaning and tuning of this instrument in 2022 (a $600 inspection with minor but essential refurbishing):
"Moog Liberation: Complete cleaning of all controls from foam rot. Some
faders needed to be completely disassembled and internally cleaned
with tensioning of the wipers. Repaired remote cable. Complete tuning
and functionality tested. Instrument sounds great and performs as
expected."
One flaw, as noted by Synths When repair specialists:
"Wood is broken at the neck, fairly severe crack in the body. A screw has been added as a cross-brace at some point (not by us) to keep the neck from splitting, and there is minor damage under the neck panel where a screw has lost its support wood completely. Neck panel is secure in spite of the missing screw. Not advised to use guitar strap." So the instrument functions superbly but is not recommended for use with strap, in "keytar" style.
