Looking to start a local food saving initiative and reducing food waste. Mainly it starts from the household, where most food waste is created. We are trying to map the present situation in Kitchener, mostly in Laurentian Hills and surrounding areas. And of course, start saving food.
If you have any UNWANTED food of which the package is unopened or opened and is still good to consume, please let us know.
Or if you have products at home of which the BEST BEFORE date has passed, contact us.
Do not forget produce (fruits, vegetables, herbs etc.)
The more you have to give at once, the better.
Thank you for reducing food waste! We look forward to hearing from you :)
Great opportunity to go though your pantry, fridge or basement for donating any unwanted food.
Food is not garbage and many people are in need, so please share instead of trashing.
Some tips how to save food at home:
*Ripe bananas make excellent smoothie and banana bread.
*Limp celery stalks will be crunchy again if put to a water filled sealed box and kept in fridge.
*Soft tomatoes make many excellent meals - tomato sauces, soups etc.
*Offer neighbour if you have extra.
